Congratulations to Henry Kunz of B & B Auto Machine & Gas Flow Techniques (Lynbrook, NY) for setting the NHRA national speed and E.T. records in the I-Stock Automatic class on March 15, 1997. Henry credits the information he learned using Valve Pro, Cam Pro Plus, and Flow Pro with helping him set the record.
We have had some reports of printing problems from customers who are using Windows 95. These problems seem to affect all DOS software, not just our programs. At first the only solution we found was to shut down Windows and re-boot into DOS. Now we have found the setting in Windows that solves the problem. It is buried deep, but here is how to find it:
Printer Warning
HP has some new printers that will not work with DOS programs. We suspect that they save a little by putting all the smarts for the printer in the Windows print driver, but this leaves the printer unable to pring for DOS programs. So far the only solution we know of for this one is to get a different printer. Other manufacturers may also be doing this, but HP is the only one we heard complaints about. When you go to buy a printer, read the box carefully. If it only claims to work with Windows programs, don't buy it!
We also have unconfirmed reports that our 24 pin dot matrix and 24 pin color dot matrix printer drivers work with Epson and Cannon ink jet and bubble jet printer.
The Audie Technology Swirl Meter is shipping. This is an RPM based swirl meter. While it can be used stand alone, it also interfaces easily to Flow Pro and Flow Quik software. The swirl meter is placed under the cylinder adapter and has the standard 5 inch square bolt pattern for bolting to the bench.
Flow Pro ver.3 has started shipping. The new program adds several new features including port mapping, carburetor testing, flow coefficients, several new data graphing mods, more flexible reports, and multiple tests per file. Version 2 is still available for those who don't need these new features. Those who are entitled to free upgrades to version 3 will be receiving them in the near future.
We hear that the September issue of Circle Track magazine will have an article featuring Flow Quik. Watch for this one.
Here are some sources of fixtures for use on flow benches. If you know of other good sources please let us know so we can recommend them.
